Question by lady J: A couple of years ago the real estate market was GREAT! Now, we all know foreclosures are at a record high?
I know real estate investing will eventually be great again…but for now, if I want to make money as an investor, what would you suggest I invest in?

Actually there are some great bargains to begin investing in real estate already. Look into Florida, Michigan, Texas (austin area only right now) and las vegas. Other than real estate, your money needs to be in stocks!! We have experienced history on wall street. One of the most extreme bear markets in a long time. This market has been beaten down and I’ve advised many people to start buying ‘certain’ stocks and they have thanked me due to large gains already. This market is in the process of forming a bottom and the great companies are already back up and off to the races. Put your money in the market now and in the long run, you are going to have tons of money. I’m optimistic on our economy and stock market. look at history…it will tell you that the market will rebound big time. We will hit 14,000 points again. Its just a matter of time.

I would suggest you look at options trading. This is the perfect market for it.
Do not buy stocks outright as the bottom is nowhere in sight. With foreclosures headed to record levels and falling home prices, home equity loans which were driving the economy for the past 4 years are disappearing rapidly. The housing market may take another year to bottom.
Plainly…’theres no more money honey’.
The good thing about the market is that you will have to form a view. Like the two people who answered your question before me. They seem like two oposing views, but they could both be wrong or both be right.
I do a bit of punting on the stock market myself, I don’t advise clients, so here are my views.
As long as Gold keeps on breaking new records, it is a sign of market uncertainty.
Use Gold as a way to see if the market believes that it has reached bottom. If the Gold price starts to stabalise and then to decline, the good times are on the way.
As the first person said, good opportunities are out there now, use fundamental analysis to spot them.
As the second person said don’t trust the market just yet, the storm is not over yet, all of the major indexes are still under their 200 day moving averages.
I hope I helped.
